Where Have I Been? Dun't Esk.......

No, no, no, I am simply not ready to blog tonite.  However, I have been getting unsettling email inquiries from friends who keep tabs on my blog as a method of determining whether or not I  am still alive and perambulating,  so I feel strongly that at least a non-blog is in order.

First, let me assure all and sundry that I am still both alive and schlepping around....in fact, perhaps a bit more than I would prefer , if I had my druthers.  It is a long, fercockta story invlving much moving of furniture and I will undoubtedly tell it to you in excruciating and revolting detail.....just not tonite, dollinks.  Do not despair....it will be sooner rather than later.

It might have  been tonite, but I am tired after a day requiring a trip to the Doctor (yes, yet another one) brought on by my incredible stupidity in allowing my kitty to bite thru my finger while I was attempting to give her some medicine.  Of COURSE I know better, but I was so damned close to getting the dose down her throat that my zeal overcame my sense of pain and sense in general.  Fortunately, no great damage was done but in viewing the glowing and swollen member I decided that I should have an expert opinion on how long I might have to live.  It turns out that washing a sink full of cat dishes in hot water last night was the best thing I could have done for my wound and I was dispatched to repeat the soaking in hot salt water throughout the day. Oy.  Sigh.   My Mother did not raise me to be quite this much of an idiot.  How did I possibly manage this all by myself?

More later.

  1. You know, Lo, you could write a post about the contents of your junk drawer and I would be enthralled.
Take care of your finger. And you are not an idiot- just someone trying to take care of her cat.

  2. You managed as we all do -- somehow G-d permitted that you lived through youthful foolishness to reach the aged foolishness we all share.

    I'm glad of it, too.

  5. Well crap..now I have to look up "fercockta" too.
It is good to see that you can still type even with an bad finger..unless of course you typed with only one hand or perhaps with a pencil stuck in your mouth.
Cats have nasty fangs, very pointy, when they bite you the fang very much like a needle will go deep into the skin..cats have lots of bacteria in their mouths especially if they are outside cats that eat birds and mice. Anyway the wound should be cleaned with a disinfectant immediately. IF it turns red and sore, soak it in warm water that has DREFT soap in it..it will help to draw out the poison. Cat Scratch Fever can develop very fast.. some people end up hospitalized...so if you had a trip to the DR and are back home that is a good sign!
Take care of yourself, there is a little pill popper you can purchase..it is like a small syringe, you attach the pill to two little plastic thingys on the end, stick it deep into the kittys mouth and then deploy the plunger. Cats can be such big babies about pills:(

  7. Hey Miss Lo... glad to see you around - glowing finger and all. As for me, I have an abscessed tooth and an appointment for a root canal tomorrow. I think between the two of us we should get out our canes, mix a whiskey sour, and just sit and watch a nice sunset.

  8. I got cat scratch fever some years back, Trying to introduse my cat (Named Kat!) to a dog... It, (The bite germs) traveled to the elbow before I had it looked at... Seems I made it in time to NOT Be admitted to the hospital... But I did need a big shot of green stuff As well as a percription... Now! I let scaredy cats hide! :-)! Glad to hear you're ok. See, I get it! (You're) friend. Michael T

  9. I've never been bitten by a cat despite living with 4 which were owned by my landlady many moons ago. After your description I don't think I'll give it a try!

You have made me think I should write a post about some of the idiotic things I have done in my life though. This comment box is just not big enough! Take care of you. :-)

  11. So sorry about the cat bite. I manage to hurt myself in the most riduculous ways, and have been known to cut myself on dried salsa and a rice crispy, and everything else under the sun. At least you can blame the cat.
I love that you use the words perambulate and sundry, they are among my favorites.
Fercockta, that was a new one though, thanks!
