I am still reeling from a video a friend sent me this morning, I think it is the most amazing and blooming wonderful thing I have ever seen.
One part of my mind keeps telling me it must be a brilliant magic trick but I have watched it over and over and cannot figure out how it could have been done.... unless the conjurer is God.
Not only is the execution amazing, but the quality of line is exquisite and the overall result is breathtaking and awe inspiring, the intellectual process astounding and...... I don't know what else.
Knowing me, you know I believe totally in the godliness of every creature and living thing on the planet (including rocks....don't you dare laugh) but if this is real there is no longer any doubt that we do not own the world..
If you can expose this as a trick please let me know your arguments. Perhaps I am too gullible.
Watch and decide for yourself and be prepared to be thrilled to your core.

Off to watch it, Lo.

Lord. I have no idea. But if it IS real, it is definite proof that elephants are sentient beings who can create art.
ReplyDeleteLo - If you ever question the validity of anything, give snopes.com a try. This elephant video is true. They provide an explanation:

I fell in love with elephants this year in India when I saw them in the spice plantation and had a ride on one. I think I started to understand the relationship between them and man in the same way as horse and man or dog and man. But they could wipe you out with one swipe yet I sensed a patient character..even rather "adult" towards us...if that makes sense. I'm not saying that cruel things are not done for profit...but then children also "jump through hoops" for a bit of money or something to eat.
ReplyDeleteElephants have always been my favorite animal. This amazes me, but doesn't surprise me :)
ReplyDeleteThe world is full of lovely surprises! Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad that this is real.
ReplyDeletewow! That is amazing! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteDear Lo, ahhhh! That's so wonderful! I love it. I'm going to email it my dad now. He's always sending me animal things and it's right up his street. I hope all's well with you xx
ReplyDeleteThat's just lovely. A self-portrait - and I can't draw half as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Lo.

At least he/she paints what he/she knows! Now, who gets the money from the sales? And is it passed on to the heirs? This was too wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Come visit when you can...
ReplyDeleteThe money goes to support the Elephant Conservancy where they live.
ReplyDeleteThia is totally awesome, and so much beauty. I sat mesmorized watching another of God's creatures, creating what i consider a miracle creation. The way they use the money is confirmation to me that this is real!!,,Just beautiful,,
ReplyDeleteThey are very smart animals. I can never understand how any human could possibly think animals do not have souls. I don't think the human race in general even tries to connect with most animals.
ReplyDeleteOnce, at a zoo in the US, an elephant was painting (it seems to be done more often than we think), when an ambulance had to pass very close to the area. The lights and sirens must have fascinated him, because he grabbed a different brush, dipped it in the red color they had for him on the palette, and painted a red streak across the painting, then indicated he was done.
ReplyDeleteYes, these are beautiful, intelligent creatures, deserving of our protection.
I am more gullible than anyone, and so I accept this as genius in a very unexpected place...or what??? I'm saving this one..
ReplyDeleteI've known elephants were very smart, but this is just amazing!!
ReplyDeleteTFS!!!
I just found out yesterday that seals can mimic human speech like birds.
ReplyDeleteSEALS!
This doesn't surprise me in the least. I've met many animals who are smarter than me. Cats, dogs and ants to start with. And horses.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, it's definitely real, even though the elephants have been trained to do this, it's still incredible and goes to show just how intelligent animals are. Some people may find this exploitative but I know how much the Mahouts respect and look after their elephants, they have an extremely close working relationship and I am glad they have found a way to fund the elephant sanctuaries of South East Asia. I would love an elephant painting!

Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how they do it and I don't care either.
Simply amusing and who doesn't need that?
Yes, I couldn't quite believe it when I first saw it and was imagining a hand inside a fake elephant trunk, but it appears it is genuine even if the elephant is merely following a few taught strokes.
ReplyDeleteamazing isn't it...I thought it must be some clever hoax but no...I really think they just are extraordinary animals!!
