Hmmmmm.......I am Perplexed

I received the following email recently and am not sure how you, my beloved and perceptive readers, will respond to it if I accept the offer.
Are any of you interested in Scrapbooking and its related software?
                                 **********************************
 Hi!

My name is Liz and I work for a company called My Memories. We have an award winning digital scrapbook software that is extremely easy and fun to use. My Memories Suite is rated #1 by Amazon and TopTen Reviews. Using this software, anyone can create digital scrapbooks, photobooks, cards, calendars and gifts without having to buy expensive and complicated software programs.
I just ran into your blog and absolutely love it!  I was wondering if you would like to host a My Memories Suite giveaway on your blog? We would love to give you 2 copies of our software ($80 value) for free! One copy is for your personal use and to review. The other is to give away on your site. Additionally, we will give you a personal $10 off promo code to share with followers and friends. Every time this code is used for our software, we will deposit $20 in your PayPal account! It is really that simple! Everyone could use an extra $100-$500 per month, right?

Please visit our site www.mymemories.com and let me know if you are interested. I’d love to chat more about it with you.
                                                  **********************************************************
I guess I should not  be so jaded as to look a gift horse n the mouth, but I also would not want you to consider me disgustingly vulgar and sordidly commercial if I offer a free gift and put an Ad on my pristine and virginal blog.

All opinions will be welcomed with open arms.......that is an odd phrase, isn't it?

By the way, I seem to be recovering from my collapse and near demise after the yard sale.  However, before you give vent to too many "huzzahs" I must warm you that I just bid farewell to the Termite Inspector and may go into a decline at any moment............

  1. I never ever respond to this kind of stuff. I am a crabby old suspicious scrooge, and assume that any unsolicited approach to me is a scam designed to rip me off.
Anyway, just an excuse to say have a great Christmas, Lo (or whatever sort you like, of course).

  2. I was wondering (worrying) where the hell you were this morning.
No one offers me anything on my blog. Except to sell me advertising. I have no advice. I do not understand these things at all.

  3. I'm another scrooge and always think these things are scams of some sort.
Regardless, I hope you have a merry Christmas!

  4. It's a legitimate company, and I know someone else who did a giveaway. I even own this product, but it doesn't do the thing for which I bought it (sigh). I would not lose respect for you if you do the giveaway but these giveaways can be a bother, and I can imagine that you might be unhappy with yourself!

  5. I decided that I do not like blogs with giveaways. The few I have responded to always end up a flop. It seems that this one would take up a lot of your time and energy. They say don't look a gift horse in the mouth so flip a coin.

  6. Several legitimate companies, like this one, do these giveaways as promotions. It is up to whether or not you want to scrapbook with it enough to write a review, and deal with the bother.

  7. Well I looked at it....thought it wasn't for me..tried it..found it was..so I'll pass it on.

  8. I second Tim's comment. Too many pitfalls. And I like your pristine virginity just fine. Merry Christmas and here's to a lotta laffs (and gaffes) with you in 2012.

  9. I'm with you on this one, Lo. Your blog is pure 'you' and your own very distinct voice. Somehow I feel putting a sponsored post/giveaway would dilute that.

Of course, it's every blogger's right to post (or not) whatever feels good to them. I just don't feel it fits with the online Lo I have come to love.

When I come here, I come here for pure unadulterated Lo - not something "brought to you by...."

  10. I'm your typical, "whats the gimmick buddy,"gal. But according to some of yiur follower's, it sounds legit, We all know that you write the best blogs on here,,I don't want it to become a "job." I love hearing about your escapades, experiences, as they happen...true honest to goodness real life experiences, and it would break my hert to see that change in any way.

  12. For some reason this email gets me aworrying so for no other reason than that I would pop it into the spam box and move on. Emails like this remind me of unsolicited phone calls from strangers trying to sell me this that or the other. Just because Iam cynical about such matters I would not even respond to say, thank you but no thank you elst I would worry probably quite unnecesarily that by doing so I would send my laptop into meltdown, followed by the blue screen of death. I do read a couple of blogs with advertising etc. understanding that some genuinely need money but I wouldn't be being honest if I didn't admit that they irritate me no end. I prefer the 'its all about me' format. I think I have just realised such emails remind me of junk mail! Now please don't get me started on that.

Instead of all that pedantic rubbish I wish I had just said, I like you just the way you are. By way of disclaimer, if you do decide to give it a go, I'll still be here, I mean if I wasn't here I would have to write something on my dormant blog!

  13. I have had a couple of these type of emails and they always make me feel uneasy. It depends on how you want to run your blog and its always your choice that counts, but for me I would look and think - actually I don't scrapbook, am not interested, so why bother.I think if someone came along with an amazing offer that really suited me, my blog and my tastes I might go for it, but otherwise I wouldn't want to be beholden to anyone.I will continue to love your blog for you and your writing though!! Whatever you decide!! Sarah x

  14. Being of a suspicious nature where freebies are offered I myself would delete the email.
I personally don't like ads on blogs either, but, its your choice Lo.
so glad you are feeling more like your old self (well a near as damn it. lol)
    Enjoy your Christmas time

  16. Well, answer it this way. Would you put an ad on your blog if you hadn't received an e-mail? I like the clean look of your blog!

    Happy Holidays Lo!

  17. Not able to read the print with my bad vision but scrapbooking is really changing 'cause of the fast paced photo tech and software tech. Happy Holidays to you.

  18. I also never reply to unsolicited offers of free stuff in exchange for space on my blog. I've declared it an ad free zone!

Hope your termites are not too big a problem and soon "taken care" of. We have been battling rodents ... not fun.

  19. I got that email awhile ago..I deleted it. If I want to give something away..I make something myself. I think they are an Ok company..that just wants to branch out:(
