Oh, Hell.....Now There Is One More Thing I Just Don't Understand

Just a quickie today.......a plea for enlightenment.  I am confused, bemused, baffled, puzzled and perhaps even hornswaggled (if I knew what THAT meant)  and also pissed off.   I hate it when I feel like this.

After months of fuming, fretting and much wringing of the hands, mind  fraught with anxiety about the shutting down of Google Reader and agonizing over whether to try Feedly or Bloglovin and simply not understanding what mechanism had been providing me with access to all the blogs I read and follow, etcetera, etcetera, etcetra, July 1st has come and gone and I seem to still have access to my beloved blogs via Blogger.com  same as always.

WTF??????

Needless to say, I am ecstatic over the fact that nothing has had to change for me......I do not need Feedly or Bloglovin or Whatever......tenks gott.   BUT.....
Can anyone explain to me where Google Reader impinges on my life if it does, indeed impinge?  Sigh.

Hell and damn.....I used to write these damned programs and used to understand how they linked together and how they could access stuff stored here and there......of course, that was  back in the dark ages so I am willing to admit ignorance and willing to learn.  This whole  brouhaha makes no sense to me and the perplexity is driving me bonkers.

Please, someone......explain in simple terms how Google Reader fit into the blog world or any other world.  My gratitude will be  boundless......I might even offer a bribe.....I mean prize.

Eagerly waiting,
   Perplexed
   Bonkersville, CA.

  1. Well, obviously the answer is that Google Reader doesn't impinge on your life! You can still do everything you want to, yes?
I've never used it, nor any of those other things you mention. I access my blogs of choice via the Blogger Dashboard reading list(for blogs I follow), or my own Bookmarks, or just stray links; always worked fine for me.

  2. If you didn't use Google Reader before July 1, nothing will change for you.

I used it, as I follow about 500 blogs, and they aren't all hosted through blogger (some are wordpress, some are self-hosted) so I collected up all their feeds in Reader. It did wonderful things like let me categorize the blogs (funny people in one folder, science blogs in another) and would give me stats on the posts I've read etc. I could also bookmark blogs in Reader...and it worked on my PC, iPad and iPhone.

  3. Your blog list is set up just like mine ~ via EBlogger, with it updating your list anytime that person posts...
You never were using Google Reader, so you have no worries, m'dear ~

    Happy 4th!!

  4. I too had this same trauma. Good news is that if you don't think you were using Google Reader, then you probably weren't. Looks like you're safe - I've had to get to grips with Feedly. To be honest, it isn't all bad.

  5. I panicked too for awhile.. for no reason, i guess. Then i researched a little about a week and a half before the big July 1st deadline. lol. I learned that i've never used Google Reader. The world as i knew it wasn't going to end. I still have, and turns out, have always used my Blogger dashboard. I can't count the number of blogger i follow though, who went over to bloglovin because GOOGLE READER WAS GOING AWAY! (I'm not yelling there, but it seems many people were.) lol again. I can still follow all their blogs, though, even though i didn't make the big move. It's like the saying goes.. 'you don't miss what you've never had.' :) I love your blog, btw, and am glad i an follow!

  6. Thanks to all of you who have answered my plea and reassured me that I am OK with just good old Blogger Dashboard.

Actually, I did get an account with Feedly for the emergency, and it is not too bad, but I am delighted I do not need it. Huzzah!

  7. I use Feedly to bring in all my blog feeds into one place. It's gorgeous, easy to use and I'm very happy with it. I don't use it to follow Blogger stuff though, just business blogs. I come on here separately to see your posts.

If you do want an RSS Reader though then Feedly is the one to go for.
