P.S. to the New Bedford Story

I was so gratified at your response to my blog about New Bedford and my Uncle Harry Bloomingdale, and tickled pink that you all loved the house as much as I did.

There is a link to the story that was written about his Department Store and his many achievements and am including that below for those of you who like history, especially when there is a string connecting it to someone you know.  Elyssa of "Fancy Pantalons" and the one you can than for all this great research
sent help in her comment as follows:.

  1. I could not access the link, dear Lo, but I loved the picture and of course, the stories about the ladder and apple-tree-climbing ladies of age. You know that makes me smile, gives me great hope for the future.
I better plant some apple trees!

  2. I loved this post with the picture. The link just said you are no longer logged into aol, which doesn't really make sense to me. Perhaps you clicked on the link from the email that was sent to you, perhaps. I am not good at these things. So hopefully someone more brainy on all things technical will come along and help.

Even without the article the whole thing was interesting.

  5. Dear Lo, I can't get into it without an aol password. Try copying and pasting the piece - I don't know if you have a Mac or a PC, I have Mac - then put it into a document and then "Make plain text" Then you can cut and paste into your blog xx

  6. Although I'm not familiar with this particular house, my wife and I had our wedding reception in New Bedford back in 1986. The city has seen better days, but it's still a fascinating place with a very rich history.
