Just a quick report today......I finally got all the Eye doctors' reports completed in time and this morning I shlepped all the papers to the DMV and was "allowed" to take the Driving Test to get my Drivers" License renewed.
The happy words are: I PASSED !
Tenks Gott. Now I think I will go back to bed. Have not slept well for 2 weeks since this whole nonsense began. Have another drink on me, everyone!
More later.

G'day Lo. Congratulations. How wonderful, have a drink yourself, though not when you intend to drive of course !!!!! Take care. Liz...
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed good news! I am proud of you and know that you must truly feel more relaxed than you have in awhile. Bask in the glow of a job well done!
ReplyDeleteYou are fortunate. I'll pass on the drink -- it's a bit early in the day...My siblings have decided that my Dad (who is 86) should no longer be allowed to drive himself, so they have started taking turns driving him. I can't put my oar in because I am not there, I don't know what is going on, and I don't know how far downhill he is slid in the 8 months since I saw him last, but I feel bad for him that this little bit of independence is being taken from him.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lo! Ahhhh Freedom!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!!!

ReplyDeleteWhen the time does come to hang up your keys, please let me be involved with the interview process of finding you a driver. There are so many young, handsome, hungry actor types down your way. Just because your eyes aren't good enough to drive doesn't mean you're blind. I mean...come on!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on continued independence (and purchasing outrageously high gasoline). Now please make sure you don't drive down the road with your blinker engaged. You're welcome to come nap on my patio swing any time.
Cheers, and congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteBelated congrats, Lo, may you stay motor-mobile for many years to come. I am raising my glass to you as I write.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo Lo.!! I didn't have a doubt that you would pass the driving test,,,I don't think I ever "under estimate" anything you do!! You are an amazing lady!! I am so happy for you,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Although I have to consider the accomplishment somewhat diluted; according to what I see on the roads today, all the rules have been thrown out the window by somebody, and the DMV is in on it. They'd have to be. They are licensing FOOLS, LUNATICS, and ASSASSINS!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the last time I went in person for license renewal that my DMV had a new building and that the old day-long line problem had been solved. They were the very model of efficiency. Now, I think I've figured out why. They're just selling those licenses out in the back parking lot and the whole storefront is a cover-up, a movie set sham.
I'm right. I know I'm right.
I'm toasting your new license, Lo! I finally got a new picture for mine... my son insisted since the old one was from 20 years ago.
ReplyDeleteCool. I wonder if I am ever going to be ready to hang up my car keys.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lo, that's brilliant news. Well done. x
ReplyDeleteGood news, sorry I'm so late in catching up.
ReplyDeleteJust signed on as a new reader. 20 years your junior. Glad you got your licence.
ReplyDeletebeep, beep, out of my way...hooray for you.
ReplyDeleteDotage VS Texting.
ReplyDeleteWhich is worse?
Love you, Lo!
Congrats, Lois! I still remember that great story of you tring to gain early access to the eye test chart. A classic story that your readers would love, but I'm not sure if you would want to incriminate yourself by putting it in a blog ;)
ReplyDeleteHow very fortunate. My vision's shot and I'm still a young 65.
