You Coulda Heard my Screams in Timbuktu...

Oh....all I can say is shit, piss, fuck.

Yesterday I had a brief moment of inspiration.....something goosed me to the laptop and I wrote at least 10,000 gazillion words, stopping every 500 or so to carefully  "save" them. After all, I am no novice at this computer stuff....I have been around the block a few times and know all too well how stuff can disappear into the the Computer Nowhere.   Still, when I had it all fine tuned to my liking I hit "publish" and ended up in some weird Bloggy swamp.

With trembling fingers I made my way back to my site and my worst fears were confirmed.  Every gazillion of those words must be floating in oblivion because they sure as hell ain't in my Blog list....not even in draft status.  Sob, snivel, sniffle.  I was too disheartened to try to reconstruct it yesterday, but today I made a few notes and just maybe......

But, actually........the truth is.....

I wish I could say that you were all dreadfully deprived of a masterpiece, but I was in a really shitty mood and as I reflected on the whole situation I ended up thanking my lucky stars that the wretched thing did get lost.  You would have probably hated every word I uttered and me for being the utterer.  Most of it was a rabid rant against everyone (including a lot of bloggers whom I love) who had been moaning and crying for their lost youth.....no.....worse than that......for their lost youthful good looks, a complaint I simply have no time or tolerance for.

I will present my arguments tomorrow......meanwhile if you want to do any bitching and complaining about the fact that everything is drooping and you can't stand to look in the mirror anymore and  "why oh why, poor me", you had better do it before I expound on what a silly fool you are for feeling that way.

See.....I am NOT always Pollyanna!

Enuf said for today.

  2. Are you kidding me? Aunt Bea from the Andy Griffith show is my idol. She's my model on how to age. Wearing sensible clothing and comfortable shoes - she's my hero.

Junk wrinkles and sags. That's life. I refer to these characteristics as my patina...and I earned it all. Mind you, I do hide the grey hairs; but that will be coming to an end as soon as I think I have a head full of the stuff and won't look so frumpy.

  3. That's strange that it just disappeared like that. Go figure.
I have to say I really do not miss my youth and know that sounds weird, but I'm so ready to get on with things that it would be terrible to have to go back. Maybe because I was always insecure about my looks I don't feel like I've lost anything. Not really though. I have my faults but one of them is not vanity.

  4. Maybe we need to get rid of all those full length mirrors. I am thinking of just keeping one of those magnified hand mirrors so I can tweeze the hair off my chin and dab on some mascara. It is what's on the inside that counts and there is still a bit of the kid lurking in there.

Had a battle of my own with the computer today. Tried to delete one of my blog lists and ended up losing the whole list! I had a few moments of panic before I called my daughter and she restored everything for me!

  6. Good for you, Lo!! I don't think there is a human being on this earth that doesn't have the same shitty days,,just don't have the spunk, (for lack of a better word) to put it in their blog. As for getting old,,,I have earned every gray hair, wrinkle, etc, and I could care less if people think I look older than I am. I'm alive, and thankful!! xo

  11. I have also had this happen. What I do now is highlight and copy before hitting publish...just in case. It's saved my butt more than once! ;)

  12. My attitude is that i'm not worried about these things. That's why i'm keeping my gray hairs -- i earned every one from the kids!

  13. I don't mind having lost my youthful good looks but I do rather wish I'd recognised them when I had them. I'd still not go back though.

  14. Good point, Lo.
Did you read that book by Anne Lamott, I can't remember which one, when her best friend is dying of cancer. The two of them go shopping, and Anne asks her friend, "Do these pants look good on me?" And her friend replies, "Oh Annie, we don't have that kind of time."

  15. It's always such a nightmare when you spend time writing something and it disappears into the ether somewhere, I hate that. Look forward to reading your thoughts soon once regrouped and typed. x

  16. I think that older women have much more interesting faces, much more wisdom (usually) and time to have fun. I'll look forward to reading what you think!

  17. Ha, ha, you always make me laugh the way you swipe those words and thoughts out into cyberspace with some gigantic imaginary baseball bat. Thunk, thunk, thunk...
